Thomas Firey from Cato makes the argument that anyone not getting the vaccination is just another big government supporter.
His article Anti‐Vaxxers Turn to Big Government and Cato are wrong about the hesitancy. It is not the citizens who do not believe the awful messaging from any government official. It is the Cato Institute that makes the more Big Government Covid argument.
I have always supported the Great Barrington Declaration. A policy directed toward the most vulnerable, who will stress the health care system with infection, will in turn decrease government overreach and spending. Mass vaccination will not.
We are now seeing more business restrictions and mandates in the United States and the world. It will continue until someone with sanity is in charge.
From Cato, “Thing is, in saying the vaccines are “experimental,” these people are relying on big government to justify their going unvaccinated… For all intents and purposes, these medications stopped being experimental a long time ago.” This does not compute. I know Webster’s Dictionary has adjusted the definition of vaccine for today’s social purposes, but a vaccine will stop one from having the bad symptoms and results of disease – immunity. Currently, we are given a medical therapeutic. Like Tamiflu for influenza.
Anyone who says the vaccine does not so far do its job is incorrect. As Dr. Ghandhi points out.
Depending on the age group and health, many unvaccinated have a better than 96% chance against hospitalization and death. And I would ask, are many of the great outcomes and protection of the Covid vaccination skewed because many are indeed in the low-risk groups already.
Take Robby Soave from Reason who wrote a piece called I Got a Breakthrough COVID-19 Case. We Don’t Need To Panic About It. He just took a vaccine from an older vulnerable person in another country to go from 99.8% safe to 99.9% safe. When he says the Covid was no big deal, most people his age and health said the same thing before the covid.
A) Government is the failed messenger for a plan against a possible man-made virus. B) Government is the proponent of lockdowns killing our economy for a virus that is 99.5+% survivable. C) The Government handed out unemployment checks and money after it failed at A and B. Don’t blame citizens, my patients for that.
The taxpayers have paid for vaccines for low-risk children and adults. It is not the fault of the unvaccinated. That falls on those who will not stand and demand a coherent plan for a pandemic from the Government. That falls on Thomas Firey and Cato.
From Cato, …those who are avoiding immunization should not receive government COVID benefits.
Thomas Firey and Cato use the government to coerce vaccination. How about using taxpayer money to bribe vaccination compliance for a virus which is starting?
Thomas Firey and many at Cato may have co-morbidities which make their risk of getting Covid-19 a reason to get vaccinated. Not getting vaccinated for anyone in the vulnerable or high-risk Covid groups is silly. Saying not getting a vaccination is a Big Government supporting choice is absurd.
